In May of 2017, the Houston Symphony partnered with local dance students from Crespo Elementary and Meyerland Middle School to join the orchestra for a performance of Stravinsky’s Petrushka. The more than 50 HISD students almost all hailed from an immigration background and represented modern-day, diverse Houston in place of the ballet’s classic characters and storyline.
