Become a Volunteer!
Volunteering provides opportunities to develop new skills and make new friends. At the Houston Symphony, our team of volunteers work in many areas of the organization to help support education programs, operations, fundraising and special events.
Volunteer Opportunities Available
Opportunities for volunteers are available on weekdays and weekends, during the day and in the evening. We encourage new volunteers to try a variety of activities to find those that best fit their schedule and interests.
Adult Volunteers (18 years and older) make a significant contribution to the Symphony as docents for family concert activities and children’s special events, ushers at student concerts for area school children and as docents for music and wellness programs at local children’s hospitals.
Teen volunteers (ages 14-18) are welcome to participate as docents for family concert activities and children’s special events with parental or school chaperones. There are also opportunities to help prepare materials for the craft activities prior to the concerts and special events.
Group volunteers (i.e. schools, community philanthropy organizations and corporations) are encouraged to volunteer to help with specific projects. Groups are typically scheduled for projects/shifts lasting up to 4 hours and can accommodate 10-20 people.
Orientations are scheduled periodically to introduce volunteers to the range of available activities and familiarize them with Jones Hall. For more information on applying to become a volunteer, please contact:
