High School Nights

Thrilling nights out, world-class musicianship, and “up-close-and-personal” educational resources all within the walls of Jones Hall, the Houston Symphony’s High School Nights feature exciting music, steeply discounted tickets, and video and curriculum resources designed to build band and orchestra students’ connection to the music and musicians performing onstage.

Ticket Costs 

  • Tickets are available on a first-come first-served basis 
  • Tickets are priced at $12 per seat. 
  • Schools with 75 percent and above economically disadvantaged populations are eligible for a discounted price of $8 per seat 
  • Schools will receive one free adult ticket per 25 student tickets

Registration Process

  • A registration form will be available on this webpage beginning at 10:00am on September 1, 2023. Payments will not be taken upon registration. Please note that seats are limited to band and orchestra students in grades 9-12. 
  • Please select as many alternate concert dates / times that would be possible for your school to attend upon registration. Following form submission, Symphony staff will place your group into concerts on a first-come, first-served basis. If your primary concert choice is filled, we will place your group into any available concerts still open if listed as alternate concert options on your form. You will receive a confirmation by the end of the business day once registering to confirm your concert date and time.  
  • To finalize securing your seats after receiving concert confirmation, a non-refundable 50% downpayment and signed Letter of Agreement will be due by September 22, 2023. 
  • The remaining balance is due two weeks prior to your concert date.  

 

 Transporation 

  • Schools are responsible for providing their own transportation to and from the concert. 

Community Tickets Program

High School band and orchestra programs with student populations above 70% economically disadvantaged are eligible to register for the Community Tickets Program. This program allows schools to receive offers for free tickets two weeks in advance of concerts when seats are available. Tickets can either be requested in pairs to allow students to sign up individually, and in some cases, by registering for tickets in bulk (up to 20 seats). Availability is limited to 25 high school band/orchestra jprogramss for the season, available as first-come, first-served. To sign up, fill out this form (music educators only).

Student Tickets

Student Rush tickets may be purchased for $20 for most Classical and Bank of America POPS concerts. Tickets may be purchased over the phone at 713.224.7575, Monday–Saturday, noon–6 p.m. Tickets will be held at Will Call the night of the performance. Proof of a valid student ID is required for pick up. Students may purchase two discounted tickets per ID.

Additionally, Student Passes offer you an entire season of concerts, for one low price! Enjoy world-class artistry and unlock concerts of musical masterworks for just $50. Student Passes may be redeemed for one ticket to most Classical and Bank of America POPS concerts. You may purchase online or by phone. Please be prepared to present valid ID upon pick up at Will Call or via phone purchase.

Explore virtual resources designed to inspire high school students to begin or further their involvement in music while working from home or inside the classroom. All video resources are free of charge.

Musical Explorations Video Series

Explore Houston Symphony performances through this series of 10-15-minute videos featuring brief clips from the 2020-21 season’s Live from Jones Hall concerts. Videos also include guided listening prompts from the Symphony’s musicians and extensions for high school band and orchestra students to explore musical concepts on their own.
