David Connor, Double Bass

A musician who makes his home in Houston Texas, David Connor enjoys a varied career as an orchestral, chamber, and jazz double bassist. Through his role as a Community Embedded Musician with the Houston Symphony he brings solo and chamber music to community spaces through interactive performances and workshops. Recent musical collaborations with Houston ensembles include performances with DaCamera of Houston, Mercury, Monarch Chamber Players, Loop38, and the Houston Ballet Orchestra where he was appointed Assistant Principal Double Bass in 2018. During the summer he teaches double bass for the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s YOLA National Festival and performs at the Britt Festival and Lakes Area Music Festival.

David holds a Bachelor of Music from Carnegie Mellon University and a Masters in Music from Rice University, and was a member of the New World Symphony from 2013-2015. He has been a fellow at the Aspen, Music Academy of the West, and Sarasota Music Festivals. His primary teachers include double bassists Timothy Pitts, Jeffrey Turner, and John Hood.
