Houston Symphony Legacy Society
For nearly a century, the Houston Symphony has inspired and enriched the lives of Houstonians and been a source of pride for our city. Preserving and building upon the accomplishments of our orchestra is the mission of the Legacy Society, whose members have made provisions for the Symphony in their estate plans.
The Legacy Society was co-founded in 1996 by two visionary board members – Stewart Orton and Walter W. Sapp. They understood how critical a strong endowment is to the stability and growth of our orchestra and that one of the most effective ways to build the Houston Symphony Endowment is through planned giving. Planned or deferred gifts can also potentially provide donors with a variety of tax and estate benefits to meet individual needs. Examples of these types of gifts are naming the Houston Symphony as a beneficiary in a will, qualified retirement plan, or life insurance policy. More complex gifts include establishing a charitable remainder trust or charitable lead trust.
A planned charitable gift to the Houston Symphony is an investment in our orchestra and a gift to future generations. The benefits of membership in the Legacy Society include public recognition (if desired), invitation to an exclusive appreciation event and admission to the Houston Symphony’s Patron Lounge.
