Carlos Carlos Botero

Carlos Andrés Botero is Musical Ambassador/Assistant Conductor for the Houston Symphony. In this role, Carlos works closely with Music Director Andrés Orozco-Estrada  and guest conductors during rehearsals and serves as cover conductor for all classical subscription programs. He also leads the Symphony’s “Prelude” pre-concert talks before each classical performance. Read more.

Aurelie Aurelie Desmarais

Aurelie Desmarais is Senior Artistic Advisor for the Houston Symphony and has been with the organization since March of 1996. Working with Music Director Andrés Orozco-Estrada and previous Music Directors Hans Graf and Christoph Eschenbach, she guides programming for Classical activity and participates in strategic artistic planning. Before arriving in Houston, Desmarais was Artistic Administrator for the National Arts Centre Orchestra in Ottawa, Canada, working with Music Director Trevor Pinnock. Prior to that, Desmarais worked for the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and for CentreStage Music, a major presenter of chamber music and recitals in Toronto. She holds a Bachelor of Music, with a major in Music Theory, from the University of Calgary in Alberta, Canada, and a Master of Arts in Musicology from the University of Toronto. She studied piano and voice from an early age and was a member of the Houston Symphony Chorus for several seasons.

Robert Franz

As Associate Conductor of the Houston Symphony, Robert Franz leads the Symphony in a broad range of creative educational and family concerts. Winner of two “Leonard Bernstein Award for Educational Programming” accolades presented by ASCAP (the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers), Robert galvanizes young audiences with programming celebrating the diverse cultural make up of Greater Houston. Past Hosts 

stjohn St. John Flynn

St.John Flynn is a champion of Houston's vibrant arts scene and an active member of our city's cultural life. He joined KUHF as Program Director for KUHF-Classical in March 2008 and also served as the Arts and Culture Director for Houston Public Media until 2016. Born and raised in Coventry, England, St. John lived and worked in France for two years before coming to the U.S. in 1986 to attend graduate school at the University of Georgia (UGA) in Athens. St. John started in public radio at WUGA-FM, the Georgia Public Broadcasting (GPB) affiliate on the UGA campus, as a part-time weekend classical announcer.

The 2015-16 Season of On the Music was a co-production of the Houston Symphony and Houston Public Media.
