Ima Hogg Young Artist Competition

Named to honor the memory of Miss Hogg, a co-founder of the Houston Symphony, this prestigious Competition is open to young musicians between the ages of 16 and 29 who play standard orchestral instruments or piano. The Ima Hogg application deadline is February 10, 2010.

Through the support of the Houston Symphony League, the Orchestra provides opportunities for students age 18 and under, and for young adults ages 16-29.

The 2010 event will take place at Stude Concert Hall at the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University. For the semifinal round on Thursday, June 3, approximately 10 musicians will each perform 2 concertos with piano accompaniment. The semifinal round is free and open to the public. At its conclusion, four finalists are selected to perform one concerto with the Houston Symphony on Saturday, June 5, at 7 pm. Tickets will be available on our website. Check back in late March to see who will be this year's semifinalists! Then come to Rice in June to see tomorrow's stars in-the-making.
