Ima Hogg Competition

Named to honor the memory of Miss Hogg, a co-founder of the Houston Symphony, this prestigious Competition is open to young musicians between the ages of 16 and 29 who play standard orchestral instruments or piano. Through the support of the Houston Symphony League, the Orchestra provides opportunities for students age 18 and under, and for young adults ages 16-29.

The 2010 semi-final competition took place at Stude Concert Hall at the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University. Each musician performed 2 concertos with piano accompaniment. At its conclusion, four finalists were then selected to perform one concerto with the Houston Symphony at the Ima Hogg Competition Concert on June 5th, two of whom would go on to perform with the Houston Symphony again on either July 10th (1st place winner) or June 26th (2nd place winner).
