Young Artist Competition at the Houston Symphony
For the third straight year, Houston high school instrumentalists and vocalists can compete for a chance to perform on stage at a Houston Symphony concert at Jones Hall on June 28, 2012.
The Houston Symphony and Fidelity Investments are working to find talented high school musicians and vocalists to take part in the 2012 Young Artists Competition at the Houston Symphony presented by Fidelity Investments. Up to four instrumental and/or vocal acts will be selected to perform live on stage at a Houston Symphony concert with conductor Michael Krajewski.
Grand Prize
- An opportunity to perform on stage before a live audience at a Houston Symphony concert at Jones Hall
- Rehearsals with professional musicians and coaches
- Recognition in the concert program
- A certificate of performance signed by Michael Krajewski, conductor of the Houston Symphony
- Professional photos of rehearsal and performance on stage at the concert
- $100 Visa Gift Card for each winning student
Eligibility
The competition is open to full-time students in grades 9–12, ages 13–19, attending any public, private, parochial, or home high school in Greater Houston, Texas (consisting of Harris, Montgomery and Fort Bend counties). Performers must be instrumental musicians and/or vocalists performing as soloists or in ensembles comprised of no more than five (5) student musicians. Previous participants and winners are only eligible to enter with new audition and concert performance material.
