Day of Music

Thank you to all the performers and food trucks who made the 2nd Annual Day of Music a great success. Please check back in 2015 for details on the 3rd Annual Day of Music.

Don’t miss this FREE 10-hour festival showcasing Houston’s diverse musical landscape. Spend the day at Jones Hall to enjoy dozens of free performances and activities! Begin the day with a visit to the instrument petting zoo and end the evening with a concert of favorite symphonic works. In between, on several different stages hear jazz groups, rock and blues bands, ethnic ensembles, choral, classical music and more. Plus, sample some of Houston’s finest food truck fare next door at Jones Plaza!

Sample some of Houston's finest food truck fare next door on Jones Plaza including Bernie's Burger Bus, Coreanos, The Waffle Bus, Happy Endings, Chi'lantro, Texas Blizzard, Oh My Gogi and Soul Cat Cuisine. Also enjoy the FREE beer tasting by St. Arnold's Brewery 3-8 PM.

Instrument Petting Zoo» 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Have you ever wondered what it is like to play an orchestral instrument? Here's your chance! Visit the instrument petting zoo located next door on Jones Plaza.

Children's Activities

Visit the Mezzanine Level of Jones Hall for fantastically fun, musically themed craft activities for kids and families.

Dozens of musical performances from the Houston community on the main stage, outside and lobby areas of Jones Hall.

Salsa Dancing Lessons

Houston’s first salsa studio, Strictly Street Salsa, brings you an authentic Latin dance experience! Join them for 30-minute lessons on the Salsa Stage, located on the balcony level of Jones Hall.

"Learn to Play the Harmonica" Clinics
» 2:15 p.m. | 4:00 p.m.
Join a clinician from the Houston Blues Museum for a 30-minute participatory instructional clinic on how to play the harmonica. Clinics will be held in the Texas Avenue Lower Lounge 2:15 and 4 PM, and basic beginner harmonicas are available for purchase at the event.

Annual Houston Chronicle Concert
» 8:00 p.m.
The orchestra performs music of Ravel, Weber, and Shostakovich, conducted by Fabien Gabel, and will feature the winner of this year’s Houston Symphony Ima Hogg Competition, clarinetist Lin Ma. Learn more here.
