Fay Shapiro, viola, was born, raised and educated in Iowa. After spending one season with the Oklahoma Symphony in Oklahoma City, she joined the viola section of the Houston Symphony in 1981. She is married to Mark Shapiro, a member of the Houston Symphony bass section. They have a 14-year-old daughter, Cara, who is currently attending the Annunciation Orthodox School.
