David Peck

David Peck, principal clarinet, is a native of Ventura, CA and graduated from the University of Southern California with degrees in clarinet performance and music composition. After participating in various southern California orchestras and chamber music ensembles, he moved to Houston in 1975 to become associate principal clarinet of the Houston Symphony. He returned to California for a short time after winning the principal clarinet position in the San Diego Symphony, but soon was back in Houston to assume the title of principal clarinet. He is a regular participant in the San Luis Obispo Mozart Festival as principal clarinetist, chamber musician and concerto soloist. Teaching credits include the University of Houston’s Moores School of Music and Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music as well as numerous summer festivals. His activities outside the orchestra include performances with his wife, pianist Edith Orloff as well as reading, cooking, movies, swimming and jogging.
