Christian Schubert

Christian Schubert, clarinet, has been the second clarinetist of the Houston Symphony since 1996. A native of Los Angeles, he studied at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL, where he received both his undergraduate and graduate degrees in music. Prior to coming to Houston, Mr. Schubert played with numerous Chicago area ensembles, including the Lyric Opera Orchestra, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Ravinia Festival Orchestra and The Chicago Ensemble. As a teacher, he has served on the faculty of North Park College in Chicago and the University of Houston’s Moores School of Music. He and his wife, a native Houstonian and professional clarinetist, are kept busy in their spare time by their two young daughters, two cats and a dog.
