Get to know your
musicians...
What is your earliest musical memory?
In fifth grade, our music class attended a Dallas Symphony concert for students. We prepared for the concert by reading about each piece and listening to a recording of each work on a scratchy LP.
If you weren't a musician, what you most like to do?
Even if I wasn't a professional cellist, I would still work in the music field. I college, I usually hung out more with singers than instrumentalists, accompanying them on the piano during voice lessons. I still have a fascination with voice and opera, so I would probably be a vocal coach of some sort.
What are your favorite hobbies?
During summer vacations, I arrange various works for chamber ensembles. In 2005, I premiered a new work for string orchestra, Brahms' Variations on a Theme of Handel, in a benefit concert for the American Red Cross.
