Anthony Kitai was born in Michigan and began playing the cello at age five. He earned a bachelor of music degree from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY and a master of music from Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music. Prior to joining the Houston Symphony in 2001, he played in the Memphis Symphony, the New York String Orchestra and the Aspen Chamber Orchestra in Colorado.
