Mark Shapiro, double bass, joined the Houston Symphony in 1985. Prior to coming to Houston, he was a member of the San Antonio Symphony for one year. A graduate of Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music, he has also been a member of the Houston Ballet and Houston Grand Opera orchestras. Mark feels that the community outreach program is a welcome opportunity to get off the large Jones Hall stage to provide music for the Houston community in a more intimate setting.
