Lower Elementary Concerts

Lower Elementary Concerts provide a full-orchestra experience for grades 2 & 3 to allow students to gather information about the instruments in a symphony orchestra, the musicians who play them and the sounds they create. These concerts are designed to spark the imagination of students and provide motivation to be involved in music. Using grades 2 & 3 content from the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills, students will connect ideas they already know from their classroom to iconic orchestral masterworks.

Due to the impact of Hurricane Harvey, the Symphony regrets to inform you that our Lower Elementary Concerts on January 19, 2018, have been canceled. Please see the note below from our Chief of Education and Community Programming, Pam Blaine.

Dear All,

Like many organizations, businesses and individuals in South Texas, the Houston Symphony has felt significant impacts from Hurricane Harvey.  Similar to many of your schools, we have made many adjustments to cope with the aftermath of the storm, including some very challenging programming decisions as a result of decreased resources and scheduling constraints.

The Robbins Foundation Student Concert Series is of utmost importance to the Houston Symphony.  While we’ve made the difficult choice to cancel the Lower Elementary Student Concerts, we are pleased to be able to keep the remaining 21 Upper Elementary, Middle School, and High School Student Concerts intact.  We are also pleased to offer an expanded number of high school concerts this year due to increased support specifically for these concerts and the High School Residency Program presented by Occidental Petroleum.

We are grateful for your continued support of the Houston Symphony and our Robbins Foundation Student Concert Series, and we apologize for any inconvenience the cancellation of our Lower Elementary Student Concerts has caused.

Thank you again for your continued support of the Houston Symphony. If you have any questions regarding your order or the concert experience, please call (713) 238-1488 and we will be happy to assist you.

Best Wishes,

Pam Blaine

Chief of Education & Community Programming

Houston Symphony
