School Administrators

We know how valuable your students’ and teachers’ time is.   With a greater focus on testing and a limited instructional time, we appreciate your investment in us to make the most of this most precious resource.   We are happy to report that the returns will be far greater than what you put in. Each Houston Symphony student concert series are arts integrated into one of the four core subject areas. We design them so that they support the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills. Our guide books are tied into specific state learning standards.   Students who learn through the arts learn in new ways. Our concerts are participatory so that students become engaged in learning.

Students who attend concerts are often inspired to go on to learn an instrument of their own. They then develop higher thinking skills, are less disruptive in classrooms, can think outside the box, actively use both sides of the brain to problem solve, develop self discipline skills and they understand what it means to strive for excellence. These same kids you brought to a concert, who fell in love with music and chose to sing or play an instrument – are the same kids who will do better on SAT scores, are more likely to graduate and, because they can think outside the box, are more likely to get into med school than those who did not play an instrument and only exceeded in biology. After you find a Houston Symphony program that works well for your students, you should have them thank you now for the difference you have just made in their lives.
