Cameron Explorer Concerts
"TOUR ACROSS AMERICA"
Robert Franz, Conductor
Bring your class, grades 4-8, to Jones Hall for this year's Explorer Concert, "Tour Across America."
This season’s Explorer Concert, “Tour Across America,” will reinforce the TEKS curriculum and the STAAR testing for social studies. This program will examine the various types of landscapes throughout our vast and sprawling country.
What would the experience of watching a movie be without the help of music to tell the story? Music helps to set the scene, create tension and illustrate drama. The possibilities of sound and color within the orchestra are endless. The Explorer Concerts seek to spark the imagination of students to allow them to dig deeper and uncover the roots of the music and understand the inspiration behind different orchestral masterworks.
In this program, students will explore various landscapes throughout our country by experiencing music written about their features. After taking a journey through the majestic Grand Tetons and the Grand Canyon and traveling along the ever-winding rivers and the wide-open Western trail, the features of various American landscapes are brought to life through music before ending with a movement from Dvorak's Symphony No. 9, From the New World.
