YPB is a society of young professionals under 40 that mixes behind-the-scenes access and up-in-front support of the Houston Symphony. If you enjoy music, want to be more connected to the Houston arts scene, or like meeting new people with similar interests, YPB is for you!

Conductor Laureate Hans Graf leads the Symphony in a powerful all- Russian program. First, hear the ripening love and impending tragedy in Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet. Then, hear rising-star cellist Johannes Moser perform Tchaikovsky’s Rococo Variations.

Hear the opening four-note, attention-grabbing theme of Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony, and you’ll instantly know why it is considered one of the most influential pieces of music ever written. This performance kicks off 3 Weeks of Beethoven with Andrés Orozco-Estrada and begins a three- year cycle of all nine Beethoven symphonies. Also, experience Lalo’s Symphonie espagnole, which features brilliant Spanish violin melodies performed by Concertmaster Frank Huang.

Twin sisters Christina and Michelle Naughton share the Jones Hall stage to perform Mozart’s Concerto for Two Pianos. Watch and listen in awe as the duo exchanges musical dialogue across the two pianos in this light and playful concerto. Next, experience the Houston Symphony’s first-ever performance of Shostakovich’s intense and expansive Symphony No. 12, The Year 1917.

U.K. Rocks: from the Beatles to Adele

This “across the pond” spectacle salutes the United Kingdom. Storm Large from the group Pink Martini and J. Robert Spencer of the Midtown Men perform songs ranging from The Beatles to contemporary artists such as Coldplay and Adele. With hits like “Moondance,” “Wish You WereHere” and “Every Breath You Take,” cheer for the influence the Brits haveon pop music in this newly-produced program by the Houston Symphony.
